Vale Creek Wines Sustainable Journey: From Vine to Wine

Our Environment

Vale Creek Wines is located on “Toscana”, a 45 ha property at Cow Flat NSW. There has been 11 ha set aside as a nature reserve which is inhabited by koalas, wombats, kangaroos and an abundance of wildlife. A wildlife corridor, which is a reclaimed eroded gully, stretches from the reserve to Queen Charlotte Vale Creek.

The property also runs sheep and cattle. The sheep are used in winter as a natural means to control weeds and grasses in and around the vines. The property also has 450 olive trees, Italian varieties of course and we will be harvesting and processing these olives throughout the coming season to be used and sold at the Cellar Door and beyond.

Sustainability

Vale Creek Wines is a member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, a collaboration between Australian Wine Research Institute, Wine Australia and Australian Grape and Wine. We will work with SWA process going forward to become a fully accredited member.  Our goal is to become a carbon neutral enterprise across the farm, the vineyard and Cellar Door.

As with the farm and vineyard we are already taking steps in the Cellar Door to be more sustainable.  The winery is located underground to keep a steady low temperature and save on energy costs.  The roof is covered in solar panels to generate our own electricity and all water used is rainwater harvested from the roof.
